چکیده

Land Cover–Land Use Changes (LULCC) and landscape fragmentation have been a common research topic for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) scientists since the middle of 20th century; particularly, they helped to make accessible spatial characteristics land management through time. We researched LULCC in Arauco Province Chile using satellite image analysis (1976–2016) FRAGSTAT software. This area is constant struggle use between agroindustry, urban sprawl, expansion exotic plantations (pine-eucalyptus) subsidized by Chilean government. The main results are: (1) we obtained surface percentages each cover , (2) net changes adding losing (ha), (3) transition map that enlightens transformations its four processes substitution, abandonment, habilitation, regeneration degradation, (4) native forest loss first half period (1976–2001) was 1.85%/year, meanwhile second (2001–2016) it 6.5%/year, (5) occurred patches deforestation driver, (6) aggregation changed started substitution forest, (7) habilitation agricultural lands degradation wooded masses with species increased their 90%.

Forest Landscape in Europe: Pattern, Fragmentation and Connectivity Forest Landscape in Europe: Pattern, Fragmentation and Connectivity

The JRC demonstrated the feasibility to assess and report in a harmonized manner, forest landscape pattern and fragmentation in Europe, on the basis of an easily reproducible set of indices. Results were used in the Forest EUROPE, UN ECE and FAO joint ministerial reporting process on the protection of forests in Europe where data on forest pattern do not exist from national forest inventories. ...

Today every city in the affected regions embedded in the West Africa is at risk (Pigott et al. 2014). Hypotheses have been raised about possible mechanisms that made dynamics of Ebola transmission exacerbated (Bausch & Schwarz...

Habitat fragmentation and landscape change

Broad-scale destruction and fragmentation of native vegetation is a highly visible result of human land-use throughout the world (Chapter 4). From the Atlantic Forests of South America to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, and in many other regions on Earth, much of the original vegetation now remains only as fragments amidst expanses of land committed to feeding and housing human beings. ...
